A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara is a long book but worth it if you want to be a part of these characters' lives. JB, Jude, Malcom, and Willem meet in college and their lives are linked from then on. There are hints here and there about their lives before they met and Jude has the most secrets of all the friends, by far. But they all achieve success at what they do. It’s a bit magical that way. Everyone gets to live their best life and make lots of money and have multiple houses or amazing and spacious New York apartments and there is no medical debt, but there is an emotional toll. I promise that you will think about these friends like they are your own long after you finish the book. Warning: you will need tissues. I used at least nine for the last fifty pages. You will know how the face on the cover of the book feels.
