I have fallen in love with the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire. I’m so glad it was recommended to me. Beneath the Sugar Sky takes us back to the boarding school for kids who went through the magical door and for whatever reason were sent back to their own worlds to either find the door again or live lives that approximate their current reality. We meet Cora, a mermaid, back from the trenches where she was free of that shame of living in a big body. She could swim the best of them. This dry reality isn’t doing anything for her until a girl literally falls out of the sky looking for her mother. They say no quests at this special boarding school, but that is all that seems to happen and I’m here for it. Plus, there is a candy land! How can you not want to quest?
