I Know Where I’m Going! (1945) Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger

The only thing she didn’t count on was the weather.

I Know Where I’m Going! (1945) was an impulse pick at the library and I have no regrets.  Wendy Hiller is a single-minded single girl who knows what she wants and how she is going to get it.  She educates herself and gets herself a great job and at the job, meets and boss and is off to a remote island in Scotland to marry him and live the life she has always wanted. The only thing she didn’t count on was the weather and no boats getting her to the island where all her dreams will come to fruition.  Waiting to cross is an impudent soldier who makes her question all her life choices and I think we all know where this is going.  It’s a romance but in Scotland and in black and white with great scenery and Wendy Hiller’s impudent face, that got her the job in the first place.
