In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire
Every bargain has a price. The trick is knowing what you’re really paying.
In the fourth installment, In an Absent Dream, of the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire we get a peek into the doorway that Lundy, Eleanor West’s right hand, went through when she was a child. She grew up when girls were only meant to be wives and mothers, but she wanted much more than that. She was sure when she went through her door, like most of the Wayward Children. She learned the hard way to make bargains at the Goblin Market for herself and for others. She was also lucky enough to find her door more than once. She also had someone in her family who knew where she had been and what she encountered but was still not sure that she should go back. This world showed Lundy how to value herself and others and to always check the cost before you pay the price.
