Joy Ride (2023)

Buckle up for Galentine’s Day! You just want to hang; you just want to laugh your ass off.

Buckle up for Galentine’s Day!  You just want to hang; you just want to laugh your ass off! May I suggest Joy Ride (2023)? Four Asian American ladies take the trip of a lifetime and what doesn’t happen to them?  Audrey is on a mission to find her birth mother and brings her best friend Lola along for support.  They meet up with Kat, who is a big soap opera star there.  Lola forgot to say that her cousin, Deadeye, is tagging along.  There is trouble on the train with a white girl smuggler.  There are some sexy hijinks with a visiting basketball team.  There is a full-on K-Pop musical number.  Joy Ride is just fun and something that everyone can find something to laugh at.  DO NOT watch this with your parents.  Despite the nonsense there are great moments of identity and friendship that are heartwarming and a lovely cameo by Daniel Dae Kim.
