Now, Voyager 1942 by Irving Rapper
I love this movie. I found Now Voyager by Irving Rapper on a sick day home from school on TCM and it has been a favorite ever since. I may have also led to a small Bette Davis obsession. I love it every time I watch it. Charlotte Vale is spinster living a bleak existence at home with her mother in the very wealthiest part of Boston. Her kindly sister-in-law brings by a therapist she hopes will help only to be cock blocked by the mother who thinks there couldn’t possibly be anything wrong with a Vale of Boston. The doctor has his way, and Charlotte is whisked off to his grand sanitarium and after that a refreshing cruise to try out her new lease on life. She meets Jerry on board, and she can finally begin to see a future for herself. Not your typical ugly duckling story but one that I will never stop watching.
