Persuasion by Jane Austen

Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen novel. There I said it! I can consume it in every form; book, movie, audio, it is all brilliant to me.

Though there are only six novels to choose from, I did choose.  Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen novel.  There I said it! I can consume it in every form; book, movie, audio, it is all brilliant to me.  A personal favorite among what I’ve consumed is the 1995 film version (more on that later, I’m sure) but a close second is the audio edition read by Greta Scacchi.  She has great pacing and her voice characterizations are clear.  Anne Elliot is a practical heroine.  She had the chance of love but it passed her by because she was persuaded otherwise by her family.  Anne has learned her lesson and is determined to follow her heart this time.  I like a flawed main character.  She is not above learning a lesson from the past and her choice of partner, while not fashionable is admirable and right for her.
