Shallow Grave (1994) Danny Boyle
Shallow Grave (1994) is a gem. This is the film that put Ewan MacGregor and Danny Boyle together for the first time and lead to the magic team that gave the world Trainspotting. Three flatmates are looking for another person to share and we see a few candidates shot down, and very harshly, as only 90s twentysomethings can do. The apartment is fabulous and the location is ideal, who wouldn’t want to move in. Juliet, David, and Alex choose Hugo and after a couple of days of not coming out of his room, they discover his body on the bed and suitcase full of cash under it. What to do? Call the cops? It’s the 90s! Hell no, you chop up the body and spend the money! These friends just don’t know the cost of their choice yet. A great psychological thriller with a killer soundtrack.
