The Scandalous Confessions of Lydia Bennet, Witch by Melinda Taub

There are pretty dresses and hats but there are also blood sacrifices and moonlit rituals.

Did I mention that I like anything Austen related? The Scandalous Confessions of Lydia Bennet, Witch by Melinda Taub is another banger.  This one has a supernatural tint as you can tell from the title.  Lydia is still the brash, bratty, and bossy sister, but now she has magical powers.  Taub also brings in a Sanditon character to add to the mix and pulls it off.  There are some funny bits.  For instance, her sister Kitty is really a cat that she has convinced her family is human using her powers.  There is also a lot of darkness, Wickham isn’t just a rogue, he’s an actual demon.  There are pretty dresses and hats but there are also blood sacrifices and moonlit rituals.  Certain characters are certainly not what you remember from Pride and Prejudice.  Mary King and Harriett Forrester are very powerful witches and more things happened in Brighton than Jane Austen ever hinted at.  Not too serious, but still very enjoyable.
