Sleepless in Seattle by Nora Ephron (1993)
Though Sleepless in Seattle (1993) is a classic rom-com there are also very strong friendships that Nora Ephron is so great at casting. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have great couple chemistry even when they aren’t in scenes together. Tom and his son are living in Seattle on a houseboat trying to figure out a life without mom. We get to know, widower Tom, through is radio confessions to a radio doctor and Meg’s long-distance love for him through her talks with best friend played by Rosie O’Donnell and the letters they write. It is a romance for sure, but the only people to say “I Love You” are Rosie and Meg. It is a movie about falling in love but also the love of friends and calling them and telling them that.
