The League of Dangerous Young Ladies by J.A. Morgenstein
What happens when the daughters of literature’s most dangerous men become best friends?
Sometimes the right book finds you at exactly the right moment. I was looking for a little brain candy and found this gem at the library. The League of Dangerous Young Ladies by J.A. Morgenstein. In small town America, a vampire seeks a detective. She is the teenage daughter of Dr. Moriarty. Her best friend is the daughter of Dr. Moreau. You can see where this is headed. It’s got a lot of heart and a dangerous mission. Keep the orb out of the hands of the supervillain who is constantly sending bug people to capture it and them. Throw in a certain Miss Tesla and a baby Frankenstein and you’ve got yourself a league. Apparently, this was a COVID project and I’m glad it found a friendly publisher. I love steampunk and literary references.
If literary characters running off in unexpected directions is your idea of a good time, read The Scandalous Confessions of Lydia Bennet, Witch next. Lydia Bennet gets her own supernatural adventure, and Jane Austen definitely did not warn us about everything happening behind the scenes. Read the review →
