Wings (1927)

This movie had me crying at the end. Two boys go to war and only one man comes back.

Advances in technology happen so quickly now that we scarcely bat an eye at new discoveries.  When I watched Wings (1927) , I was astounded at the advanced tech directors William A. Wellman and Harry d’Abbadie d’Arrast were working with.  To think that it was only 1903 that saw the Wright Brothers sustained flight in North Carolina to the pilots of World War One only about a dozen years later and less than a quarter century later there were aerial shots and dog fights being filmed for this silent epic starring screen darling, Clara Bow.  Also, a tiny little cameo by Gary Cooper.  Blink and you’ll miss him.  This movie had me crying at the end.  Two boys go to war and only one man comes back.  There is also romance, a love triangle, and a girl next door.  I can’t say enough for this proto-Top Gun.
