Christmas is a time of tradition and ritual.  The meals, the decorations, and gifts.  Though it is steeped in beliefs, there can be a lot of differences.  Jeanette Winterson has compiled her collection of Christmas stories with a collection of feasts that can be prepared based on her friends and families.  Christmas Days: 12 Stories and 12 Feasts for 12 Days could be the making of a new set of traditions for your chosen celebrants.  These are not typical holiday fare and that is what I like about this collection and this author.  The Silver Frog is my favorite and you can’t beat an orphan story on Yuletide.  You also get a recipe, but they also come with stories, like her mother’s mince pies.  Learning others traditions is a great way to tap into kindness for the holidays.
